Race!

This is the first time that the Mendocino Woodlands State Park has ever allowed a mountain bike race on their property! THE ROUTE IS FANTASTIC!

It’s about 10 miles per lap with roughly 1800 feet of vertical per lap. Two ups, two downs. The climbs are littered with passing areas and there is one choice of short/steep or shallow/longer for you each lap as well. The downhills are like bobsled runs. We are grooming, pruning and manicuring the trails between now and race day. Buff, smooth and fast. If you’ve never raced singletrack before, this is a great route to jump into it on. If you are superpro you can make it as terrifying as you like, simply by going faster. NOTE: 810mm bars not recommended.

Race Start Times

  • 9:00 AM - First-timers / Novice / Tandems (one lap)
  • 10:30 AM - Sport class (two laps)
  • 1:00 PM - Experts and Singlespeed (three laps) and Pros (four laps)

It’s all singletrack. It’s all sweet. Best bike choice: lightweight hardtail. Trail surface is packed loam with occasional roots. No rocks.

Prizes to be announced as sponsors ante up. PRO PURSE! Equal pay outs for men and women.

  1. Based on the description above “one choice of short/steep or shallow/longer for you each lap”, are their two different routes for each climbing section?

If there are two choices how much distance does the Shallow/longer add to each lap?

Thx and looks like a super fun event!

  2. Can we do a pre ride in the morning, and if so what time?

How many sport class 40-49 riders are registered at this time?

P.S. I drove by there this morning and no one is there. Pre riding today doesn’t seem feasable.

  3. What a great event! Great food (best food I’ve eaten at an mtb event) and the course was amazing, even better than described. Superfunn, plenty of climbing and tight singletrack to keep it honest. Will definitely spread the word for next year. Nice job team!

  4. Definitely! Great group of people, cool vibe, and a Gorgeous forest! I tried bringing others up with me this year, and will certainly talk it up next year!

  5. Excellent event, superb food, amazing course and all around good vibes. Thanks to all, from the trail blazers to the organizers for a great experience.
